Always the Horse, Never the Groom gig

The Horse and Groom was a really welcoming gig. We remember a lot of our friends popping in and the other bands were very cool, complimentary and got busy with their feet during our set. That’s how good gigs should be. We had played a gig with another band that went onto a bulletin board to slag us off, which is probably about as little-town mentality as one can get. In the smoke, there was a much better attitude to weird and different.

What really stands out were two specific moments: One, Misc couldn’t find his metal slide so improvised with a bottle of beer, which is incredibly rock and roll. Nice.

Two. Felix had decided in an absolutely Avant Garde mood, to adorn the stage around him with candles and other items in a sort of shrine. He hadn’t really mentioned this to either Mikee or Misc, but as soon as we got there he set up his little stage space and it was as strange as it was brilliant. Obviously, a massive fire hazard having tea lights being scattered about in a musty, dusty, mostly wooden pub, but it just added to our eccentricity a little bit more.
