Privacy / Data Handling

Privacy Policy

The data this site handles and the services that carry it.

What data is used and why

When you visit, Vercel, our hosting provider, receives technical request information needed to deliver and protect the site. This can include your IP address, browser and device information, requested page, referrer, and request time. We rely on our legitimate interests in operating and securing the site.

We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand general page usage and Vercel Speed Insights to measure site performance. These services process information such as page paths, referrers, browser and device details, approximate country, network conditions, and performance measurements. Vercel states that Web Analytics uses a temporary hashed visitor identifier, does not associate page-view data with an IP address, and discards the identifier after 24 hours. We rely on our legitimate interests in understanding and improving the site.

Site content, including audio files, is managed and delivered by Sanity - our CMS. When your browser requests that content, Sanity may receive technical request information such as your IP address and browser details. We use Sanity to publish and deliver the content you request. Audio tracks are delivered via Sanity and played directly through your browser's native audio controls.

Cookies and browser storage

The public site does not use advertising cookies. Vercel states that Web Analytics does not use third-party cookies. The colour switcher saves your selected colours in local storage in your browser so that choice can be restored on a later visit. This is not a cookie and is not used to identify you. Sanity or Next.js may use necessary cookies if administrators enter an authorised editing or preview session.

Who receives data

Vercel provides hosting, Web Analytics, and Speed Insights. Sanity provides the content management service and delivery of published assets. These providers process information to provide their services to the site operator. See the following links for further information:

Retention and international processing

Vercel documents a 24-hour lifetime for the temporary Web Analytics visitor identifier. Other analytics, performance, hosting-log, and Sanity content retention periods depend on the providers' current terms and this site's account settings.

Vercel is a US-based company and their default processing region for serverless functions is the United States. To legally transfer data outside the UK and EEA, Vercel relies on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) alongside the UK International Data Transfer Addendum (UK IDTA).

Sanity operates out of Norway but also processes data through Sanity US Inc. in California. Sanity's Data Processing Addendum explicitly relies on the EU SCCs and the UK Addendum to safeguard any restricted international transfers.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may ask for access to your personal data, correction or deletion, restriction of processing, or a portable copy. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests. Contact us using the address above to make a request. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office or, if you are in the EU, your local data protection authority.

Changes

If the way this site handles data changes, this policy will be updated here. Check this page for the current version.
